Message from the Head of Education

The joy of learning a foreign language lies in
"discovering the ways of thinking
behind the words."

Head of Education Department

Atsumi Miyatani

Learning a new language is also a way to understand yourself. While thinking about "what words best express what I’m feeling," you may slowly start to shape thoughts and beliefs you weren’t aware of before. The time spent understanding and expressing yourself is incredibly precious—a privilege that only language learners can experience. That’s why I hope you will use this valuable period to think deeply and enjoy it to the fullest.

For passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), textbook-based study might suffice. You could even achieve this without studying abroad in Japan. However, isn’t passing the JLPT a means to an end rather than the ultimate goal? At SACHI, our goal isn’t just passing the test. It’s ensuring that after graduating from SACHI, you can fully pursue what you want to do in Japan. That’s why we provide classes that allow you to enjoy and effectively learn Japanese and different cultures.

At SACHI, it’s okay to make as many mistakes as you want! Embrace new challenges, enjoy the process, and develop your skills through trial and error. We’re here to fully support you in thriving in society.

The goal of SACHI is to nurture students who
continue to grow even after graduation

We focus not only on Japanese language skills but also on developing broad communication skills essential for real-world success. When people think of language learning, they often imagine practicing the four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. However, this alone is not enough.

At SACHI, while we do teach grammar and individual skills, our primary focus is on clarifying the "purpose of using the language" and maximizing the "experiences and knowledge that students already have" to achieve their goals. To this end, we prepare tasks that encourage students to learn consciously not only in school but also outside of it. Additionally, we actively incorporate learning opportunities that connect students with real-world contexts by involving companies and local residents.

The goal of SACHI is to nurture students who continue to grow even after graduation. The time spent at school is just a small part of your long life. Graduating from SACHI doesn’t mean the end of Japanese language learning. Continuing to learn is essential for acquiring the skills and knowledge needed in society. At SACHI, we provide Japanese education that includes learning strategies and methods for utilizing social resources. We, as teachers, also hope to continue growing as educators through our time with you.
